HOUSTON, Texas —
Houston-based event promoter Uperxz, is bringing students together for the African Student Organization (ASO) Weekend 2026 After Party on Friday, November 20, at Phase 2. Doors open at 10 p.m.
“I’m from Houston, TX, and this event is for my city,” Uperxz said. The night will center on music, culture, and connection, with sounds by Wazzi, Ry, OBO, and Myde. Hookahs will be available, and guests may bring their own bottle.
The event brings together students from the University of Houston, Prairie View A&M University, Texas Southern University, Texas Tech University, the University of North Texas, and the University of Texas at San Antonio. “Seeing students from all of those schools in one room is what keeps me going,” Uperxz said. “Music, the city of Houston, and the energy of a packed dance floor drive every detail.”
Asked to describe the experience, Uperxz offered three qualities: “Good vibes, great music, nonstop energy.”
The event is also being produced in collaboration with Houston content creator Luh Tay, known online as @chillluhtayy. The partnership brings together event promotion and content creation to help share the night’s music, campus connections, and Houston culture with a wider audience.
Building an event across multiple campuses takes persistence and coordination. “Getting a venue, booking the right DJs, marketing across multiple campuses, and getting the word out to a crowd that is spread across Houston, Prairie View, Lubbock, Denton, and San Antonio” are among the challenges, Uperxz said. “Each event teaches me how to plan and promote better.”
Inioluwa credits consistency, teamwork, and trust in the vision for bringing the event together. “Putting together a night with this many schools, DJs, and moving pieces takes planning, teamwork, and patience, and I kept pushing until the event came together.”
Family and community remain central sources of inspiration. Uperxz’s family moved across Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Togo before settling in America. “My family, and the friends and community who support what I build” have been influential, Uperxz said. “Everyone who shows up for the culture is part of it.”
The message to attendees is simple: “Bring good vibes, support your community, and show up for the culture. Great nights happen when people come together, so come ready to enjoy the music and the moment, and celebrate responsibly.”
